I had just about given up on my Orb of Deception as a frivolous waste of money.
I had gotten the Orb of deception off a random /2 Trade callout, when I was loaded with more than my fair share of gold. For those of you who don't know- the Orb of Deception a trinket that changes you into a random race of the opposite faction for 5 minutes out of 30. You aren't REALLY the opposite faction, just appear so, and it doesn't confuse city guards.
So, its a 500G toy.
And I played with it 3 or 4 times, and the most fun I managed to have in my Tauren apearance was trading harmless spells in Darnassus with a NE Priest who was game to pretend with me as I yelled out(in /1 Genereal chat- not in yell)a Hate Alliance slogan or two.
Then came the day that my 30 something level hunter RL friend brought HIS RL friend into the game for the first time.
Now his friend had read up on the game a bit and bought his own acct and was in a party in Teldrassil starting area with my friend, and had made it up to level 3.
My friend, we'll call him Mort, decided to "trick" his friend, we'll call him Scales and pull out his pet and "sic" it on his firend to frighten Scales. And Mort told me about it, who just happened to be in Darn at the time. So I said to Mort in reply, "wait- let me come in as a Tauren, yelling 'Die Alliance Scum" and such!
Well Mort let Scales know sometimes Horde come in and wipe everyone out and visaversa- naturally a few minutes before I show up proclaiming Horde suppremacy.
So Mort tells Scales to "RUN" and I go chasing them and throwing "Blizzard" and "Cone of Cold"s in their general direction and yelling "Die Alliance Scum!"
LMAO! Mort and I were on the phone with each other and I say to Mort- "Feign Death dude!" and he does! He tells Scales that I got him, and Scales DID just see him "die" and starts running in a zig zag fashion (as if that would have really helped!) and yelling in party "What do I DO?"
Meanwhile- I am throwing Ice Lance instants left and right of Scales killing Boars and Gremlins all around him and he thinks I am missing him! He starts telling Mort that he is outrunning me!
Well, I chase him around for about 4 min and 50 secs (took me 10 secs to get up to them) and kill everything around him and repeatedly cast Blizzard and Cone of Cold on/around him, finally "letting him get away" at the end of my time.
So he's over IN the Aldrassil tree a minute later dancing and telling Mort in Party Chat how he made it and got away! MAN My RL friend Mort and I was absolutely ROLLING with laughter. Then I came up to them as my normal Human Mage self and joined their party and we set up Scales Party Chat with the Mic and headset he had, and let him in on the joke.
Still, it was one of the most fun things I had ever done in any game, and well worth the 500G after all!
